Organizing Tools

For this assignment I wasn’t really sure what to do with it so I just gave a reflection that article and put it up here on my blog. I think that this article hit some good points, which we need to use more technology and that it would be great if every teacher could get a web page and maintain it but does he realize how much extra work that is for a teacher? Teachers already are tremendously over booked and sometimes cant get the work they have on their plates now done, how do you expect them to maintain a website. If somehow we can get teachers in the future to start using all electronics for their teaching and do everything through technology then maybe when can manage this but teachers don’t have the time to mess around with this right now. I think in the future that this will be a great idea and might be useful to start thinking ways of incorporating it in but not now. Here is a link to the site where you can read the article as well.

Intel Education Assignment

This is the link that will get you to the students sign in. I used team01 team02 team o3 team 04, the password for all the teams is password. I will probably change this soon but for now it will work. My teacher id is jdevaul9@gmail.com. I used this to create a assignment that would help me better understand what the students want and need in getting assignments done and getting good grades on them. This will let us know what they need to and how we can help them.

I think that it uses these because we got the opportunity to get online and use our skill that we have learned and that we still are learning. I think that this assignment hits all these that I have listed. I think this a good thing for little kids to use but I dont feel that you should use it with a profession. I know if i was a owner or a manager I wouldnt like this because its a little bit childish and business like. But I had fun playing around with this.

This is the site and i just got the video and saved it and then added it to here. Fairly simple but a little confusing. I couldnt get the video on here yet but i am still working on that. But here is the site for the video. i think that this would be a great thing to use in a theatre class or drama class and show them there are many ways to express themselves.

Picture of Myself

For this picture that I drew I used the website that the teacher gave us. It was fairly simple and easy to draw with this site. Once I had the image done I also had trouble getting this to save so I just used the snipping tool and snipped it off the page and saved it that way. The picture is saved as a JPEG Image, the size is 20.3 KB (20.788 bytes). This was very easily done, if you cant get to the website then I will put a link on here for you. http://www.mrpicassohead.com/ Have fun with this one!

Power Point

http://docs.google.com/present/edit?id=0AYEt2joG6236ZGNxa2c2Z3BfMjFjMmM2c2dmcg&hl=en

I chose to use powerpoint because I use it all the time. I thought about useing word or another program but thought I would be more familiar with power point. I started with a blank slide and then drew a digram of a basketball court. I wanted to show how to draw a play but couldnt get the animation to work so instead I hyperlinked the pages with the numbers and just described what each player would be doing. I saved this under my documents as a presentation. The program was 84k. If you double click on this it will open with power point. This is a great thing for students to learn how to use things and add clip art and animation to things. I didnt but you can even add music to the slides. This is good for students because they will have to know how to use this when they get to college.

Here are the standards that i used
1. Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity
Teachers use their knowledge of subject matter, teaching and learning, and technology to facilitate experiences that advance student

Desktop Graphic

This is a Math worksheet that I found on the internet. It had a bunch of other stuff on it that I didnt need to teach the children the lesson at hand. I snipped everyting out of the picture except for the actual problems. The snipping tool is a great way to make sure you get what you want and not have to worry about all the other stuff on a page.

These are the stanards that i used for this assignment.

I used the paint program to take the portion of the solar system that we would be workin with. We are only working with the first five planets as of now and I thought that it would be good not to over whelm the children and put all the planets on the screen at once. The file type that I saved the graphic under was JPEG (*.jpg,*.jpeg,*jpe,.jfif). The size of the file is 20078 bytes. I went to yahoo images and found numerous images that could have been used but I thought this one has the best color and would be the best to crop and get what I wanted.

Intro

This is my intro post to the class, I don't know if this is late or even really what I am doing. This class is already starting to get confusing for and its the first week. My name is John DeVaul, I am currently working on my masters in education. I will have my masters of professional studies at the end of this semester as long as I can pass all the classes with at least a B. I live in Mannington, WV and I am a substitute teacher and also I am a boys basketball coach at Fairmont Senior High School. I can not wait to get this semester over with and be done with school. GOOD LUCK to everyone in the class.
